DIY Humidifier for Incubator - Has anyone tried something like this?

So I just finished up my (more or less) first hatch, and in a DIY incubator. I had problems maintaining a decent humidity during the last 3 days. When looking for suggestions around the ‘net, I came across this DIY apparatus that acts as a humidifier:

I’m just wondering if anyone has tried this or something similar, and if so, if it helped? Really sounds potentially useful especially for those last three days and if you have to open the incubator during that time.

I haven't done a DIY project like that but I LOVE my Humidikit. Set the percentage and forget it

Aren’t those a bit pricey though? In my case it would be for a DIY incubator.
