DIY Incubator, Humidity

Hmm... Do you think I could put just regular store eggs in to simulate what would happen once I get fertilized eggs in there? Just so I don't have to play as much once they're in there? Not sure if it would work though...

I've got humidity down to 52% and temp is at 99 degrees Fahrenheit even. Once the eggs are in how much do you think humidity will increase?

That should work, you won't see much if any increase from the eggs... The the live eggs breath but they lose water slowly over the entire incubation period so it's not that much overall... Don't waste your time testing with store bought eggs, they are dead and don't simulate what an living egg does...

Are you sure you have an accurate humidity and temperature gauge?

To get a little lower humidity you can remove the water tray every other day or again use a smaller one... It's the average humidity that matters not the humidity at any particular moment or any particular day... So if you leave the water tray in for a day at 52% and remove it for a day and say the humidity drops to 20% then the average is 36% or leave it in for two days and remove it for a day (assuming same 20% no water tray) then the average is 31%... You can also just cover the water try for a few hours every day to further drop humidity...

But, either way 52% should be OK, just monitor the air sack size when you candle, and adjust humidity up or down to decrease or increase air sack size...
