DIY no mud duck waterer - need some help

When you figure out a 'no mud duck waterer' let me know. We can tackle perpetual motion next.
So this is what it looks like...
We used a small tote from Costco, a ball valve from Amazon, drilled three holes one each side, and connected hose. Placed the entire thing on huge rubber mat. Only thing that is missing....how to get them to drink from it😂🤪

This is same concept but easy to flush out.

I built this exactly - just with a larger barrel(I regret that dang thing is heavy when full). I made mine with adjustable heights; but right now my little ones refuse to use it if it's any higher than the lowest setting - which means it sits on the ground. Other than the weight though it's super easy to clean out.

So, how did you get them to use it? Mine walk around the box and quack, yet haven't figured it out. It has been a few days. I took all the other water away. However, I can not take their pond out, since it is in the ground, so they drink out of it.

Honestly - I probably got lucky, but I'd raised these guys from the start drinking out of containers with holes, so they took right to the barrel.

Maybe try leaving the lid off so the water inside is lit up for them.
