DIY Soda bottle PVC waterer

I was just wondering about the soda bottle pvc waterer as seen here http://homesteadlifestyle.com/diy-pvc-soda-bottle-chicken-waterer/. Has anyone tried this? If so, Do we need to poke holes in the cap of the soda bottle? Thanks!

I think the instructions were saying to put one or two holes in the lid of the water bottle with a hammer and nail. Using the nail to pierce the lid of the drink bottle. the instructions were not very clear but, that is what I got out of it, Then you flip the bottle upside down in to the top of the Y filling that has a PVC cap screwed in the end facing the ground. This would probably only work for 1-2 chickens as mine drink a fair amount. If you decide to try it, let us know how it works and good luck...

Thank you! I am trying to think of different waterers that are good to use. The ones that I have had get dirty quickly and usually leak. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks

A lot of people like the nipples fed from pvc piping that form a sort of reservoir above that is refilled from the exterior of the coop. Right now, I just clean mine every afternoon.
