Roost is full.
total cost $67 for allNice work, I got the same kit for my DIY 'bator.
I am planning on remaking my base frame to have a finer slat or mesh like your's. I loved the incukit too, fan's a bit noisy though, but it did a great job last hatch.
Quote: Thank you! We had to clear out this little spot so I grabbed a few good branches. The poo-board is about 24" front to back and a little over 6' long. I put in the whole 40 lbs of PDZ and it seems to be about 3" thick. I'm gettin' ready to go scoop out last night's offerings! haha I am putting it on the compost pile for the garden and flower beds. There is a little corner area in the coop that also has a roost. Maybe 3-4 hens roost on that one, so I need to use some of the PDZ over there. Just a plain board underneath right now. So that may relieve a little of the weight - I don't have anything in the middle, but may add a 2x4 to the floor for support.
A couple are roosting on the nest box roof and linoleum is going on that today! They can barely stay on now but seem to be OK with sliding downhill. They must think they're at the carnival w/ the big slide! Thanks for your suggestions!
Hey there! Sure looks like she is, doesn't it?Roost is full.
It looks like she's moping because the other gals kicked her off the roost LOL. ___ nascarjunkie1, love the automatic waterer! I'd love to do something like that for the warm months at least. Come first freeze, it'd be back to manual refilling, I'm sure. *_*
Mine is about 24" and about 6' long. That's all the space I had (small coop) I tried to place the roost in the middle but sometimes they miss the PDZ and go on the ledge. (or on the wall braces between the studs, or on the floor, or ... lol...it's definitely not fool-proof but it helps A LOT!) The floor has been MUCH cleaner since I put in the poo-board. Also, might depend on how big your chickens are!How wide do u make the box for the PDZ under the roost, so they don't poop on the ledge? Considering this for my coop but will have to move the roost. Thanks!
