Does anyone have any great ideas for hanging or mounted treat feeders that I could DIY for inside my coop? I'm looking for something I can toss kitchen scraps in. Photos or links would be a great help. Thanks.

I just throw on the ground the amount of scraps or leftovers I want them to have. Usually I only give them left overs that are getting old and that's typically a complete nutrient diet in itselfm(lasagna, chilli, etc.) so not concerned how much I give them at a time.

The problem with free a choice feeder of treats is if they like it they will eat that in lay of there nutrient rich feed. One thing folks do is hang a cabbage in their run for the birds to peck at. I don't and can't say how much they key in on that over feed or if they peck at it now and then.

I just toss scraps on the ground. That provides the chance for the birds to scratch in the dirt, a very natural behavior.

Yeah, sounds frankly like a waste of time and resources to me. Chickens are naturally accustomed to scavenging scraps off the ground and are perfectly happy and healthy doing so. What would be the advantage to building a dispenser...?
