Last year I made a simple still air incubator and had a 50% hatch with my chickens. This spring I've got a bigger cooler, a new bi metal thermostat, and old computer fan. I have week old coturnix, so plenty of weeks to get ready. Question for you DIY'ers, what should I make or use to put my eggs in or on? I'm gonna do a turner, and Its easy to find things to put chicken eggs into, but I'm not sure for quail.

so give me pictures of what you've done.

Here is something you could modify to suite your needs. http://www.instructables.com/id/Pre-Incubation-Egg-Turner/ . This inventor made a manual egg turner to store fertilized eggs for several days before putting them into an incubator. I'm sure there is a way that you could add some type of gears with a battery operated clock mechanism underneath to turn the eggs. Just an idea to start from, maybe this can help.

I thought this turner look very cool. If you don't want to make it automatic you can just attach another dowel to the end and have it sticking out of the brooder to manually move the eggs from the outside. I think I will try my hand at this one after my first couple of hatches. (I want to be present during the whole process and I think it would be fun to turn them by hand).
