Do ALL chickens do this?

Oh yeah, Mine will walk across eachother's backs and then squeeze into the good seats.
The whole time there is sqwaking while they get stepped on.
Each one does it, the back walk and squeeze in.
Sometimes they knock each other off the roost.

It's normal behavior.

My three youngest lil renegate motorcycle gang banty chicks go in early and all three get up to the "big guys" favorite spot, then get down, go out and wait for the roo and his favs to get up there and then they perch on the third perch down like they weren't just playing in their big brother and sister's stuff...how smart is that? They're a hoot those young guns...

I've got 4 different roosts in 4 corners of the coop/pen. All at the same height, just in different locations.

The 4 Buff Orp hens have commandeered one roost, the RIR roo, and several red hens, as second, the dominant roo, and his core harem the third, and the fourth (the top of the brooder cage, covered with plywood) is used by the youngest roo, the couple adolescents, and anyone wanting to stay over the brooder light.

No squabling unless one decides to try out someone else's roost. They'll quickly go back to their own and all is quiet for the night.

Ought to be interesting when the 6 babies I have in the house get big enough to leave the brooder and join the "big kids".

I've noticed a few hens that fluff themselves up at night so they look twice their normal size and take up more room on a roost. (No, they're not cold).
Greedy little hens.

mine do it too...sometimes theyre even just go disturb em in their nests and not even steal it, just get em out

Hanging With My Peeps, that is a great video. Love your Angel. I love watching mine get ready for bed. They remind me of girls at a slumber party because usually there's a lot of talking going on once they get in their places.

SnowyDiamonds, that's a hoot that your little bantys do that.

My little mama hen would go up to the top roost in the morning before the older hens and roos would get down. Til she was invited into the top roost.

It's like an elite clique who gets to sleep there.
