I was reading on here somewhere that someones bantam came on day 19.... and that they thought bantam chickens dont take as long as regular chickens...

I am on day 12 on incubating my bantams so I was just curious if this is common across the board for bantams to come quicker.

I've heard that some will hatch late on day 19 and some on day 20, but I think it's 21 days for all chickens.

So all the bantams you have hatch early then.... it seems that maybe this is true across the board... Anyone have bantams that wait till 21 days?

GOOGLE A HATCH CHART ON YOUR SPECIFIC BREED, WITH the assorted bantams, duccles, cochins, etc. they are 21 days, silkies can b sooner, and some more of the game fowl variety sooner, quail 19 days, plus your incubator temp. has a lot to do with your hatch.....just stop rotating 3 days b 4 they r due..you'll be fine.....either way

i was once gone and the helper at the hatchery was manually turning a few new breed eggs, and he was still turning while they were peeping {had broken into the air pocket} and very well pipped...

luckily all were born ok, just a little drunk, so i left them in the bator until the third day ( we usually take out 1st or 2nd day.....) hope this helps, and makes you feel better about your hatch! best of luck!

I have never had bantams aside from seramas hatch early unless my temps were off and then I get a poorer hatch along with it. Dozens of japanese bantams, dozens of d'uccle crosses, dozens of my other bantam EE, sebrights, etc... and often incubated with standards so it's not that the temps are just low. I hardly ever set standards without some bantam eggs and they all hatch together. At most the bantams pip a few hours earlier but sometimes I have had the standards hatch first. Always always day 21 if I do things right. If I see them pip too early I know to expect fewer chicks and would run the temps lower next time to try to fix it but it's happened so rarely. Every now and then the seramas do hatch a day early. They are the only exception I've dealt with so far.
