I have a chick who I think is a rooster. I've been thinking about getting him caponized. My question is, do caponized roosters still crow? If they do, are theu loud still?

Also, do you know of anyone that can caponize a rooster near here?

my understanding is yes he will crow and caponizing should be done as early as possible as the older the bird, the higher the mortality rate

Roosters crow... no matter if they're caponized or not. (sorry) And there's really nothing you can do to make them crow less often or quieter, short of freezer camp like another poster suggested.

are you sure a capon crows, think about it, what causes the roo to crow is hormones, if those hormones are gone he shouldn't crow, that is why a hen crows she has a high level of male hormones

some people will tell you he crows so you don't caponize him

I'll wait for more answers.
