Do cats get along with chickens?

we have a cat that is an absolute terror. One time I was out cleaning the chicken pen and I heard a bunch of shuffling sounds and a thump from around the corner. My two game hens had backed the cat into a corner and they were standing tall trying to be intimidating to the cat. That is the only time I ever saw the cat anywhere near the chickens

I currently have two kittens who are not yet full grown. They haven’t bothered the chickens at all. I’m worried that they might in the future. I let my chickens free range all day when I’m not present. Do you think my cats will soon find out that my chickens are the same thing that’s in their cat food?:wee

We are very new to this but when we brought home our 2 little ones, we made a point to introduce them to the cat and dog, no problems here! Actually the cat and one of our girls are best of friends!

My current cats like to eat with the chickens. They’ve never attempted to attack any.

When I was younger I had some Cornish cross for 4H. We kept them in the garage until they were feathered in. We had a cat sneak in one night and demolish 5 chicks. When they were older and MUCH bigger we turned them loose in the yard while cleaning the pens. Another cat started stalking them. It was his luck that he caught the attention of the remaining birds, they ended up chasing the cat all over the yard!

Our cats are regularly in with the hens, a couple even sleep with them. I wouldn’t trust a cat with chicks/young birds, but have no concerns with cats and older hens. One of the dirtiest nastiest scraps I’ve ever seen was 2yo roo and a young cat. The roo got the cat in the corner of his pen and worked it dirty, that cat hasn’t been within 50yds of a chicken since.

Never had a problem with my barn cats and even strays that make their rounds through my property. Even my resident house chickens roam about and the indoor cats don't care.

They can get along, I had a ginger boy whom grew up with the chickens and never bothered them, he even slept in their nest box which the girls hated and he still wouldn't attack them when they kicked him off. I have two other girl cats that weren't raised around chickens and lick their lips at the sight, I no longer let them out so its not a problem for me. so long as you raise chickens and cats together they will realize that they are family, I never really had to teach my cat that he just knew, but I cant say the same for other cats so do supervise when they are outside. only leave them alone when you are sure they are okay with them, you may think they are but be sure! all it takes is one hungry pet, I learnt that the hard way.
Our neighbor has 5 hens that free ranges and there are loose cats in our neighborhood. So far so good! We are getting 3 chickens from a friend. We just built a coop and are about to add on the run. I'm more concerned with the chickmunks helping themselves to eggs and chicken feed. Between 3 close in neighbors, we have chickmunk holes. And chickmunks running everywhere. Now looking at ways to rid of them.
