Do chicken dig

I have an old dog fence that iam using for chickens and i was wondering if I had to dig in alittle or not

Do chickens dig? Well they scratch a lot. Mine make deep holes to dust bathe in so I would say they dig. Not like digging to get out but mine make holes next to the fence to lay in and take a bath.
I would worry more about other things digging to get in then them digging to get out.
Have you heard of a wire apron?
You would basically attach the hardware cloth or chicken wire to the lower section of your fencing and lay it on top of the ground pinning it down in many places then either bury it with some dirt or wait for the grass to grow over top of it.
It keeps things from digging to get in and have a chicken dinner.
