Do chickens come when called?

most of mine come when I just open the door. Spot is targt traned (she thinks she is a dog!) so I just show her the target and she comes a running.

Mine sure do! I call them by their breeds (they are seperated into breeding flocks). So I go, "Hey Dellie, Dellie... time for bed!" and they go in. Some know their names... most don't have names. I can call "Elvis!" and he will come to wherever I am in the yard. They are sometime slow about it... they may come for 10ft and then see a bug... but you repeat yourself, and they come again. lol. Ducks however are more focused. You tell them one time "Bedtime!" and they go straight in.

Just talk to them alot, use the same phrase everyday, and remember the treats! Treats are the key with chickens.

Me or my truck. It's annoying when I want to step out on the back porch without bringing treats

Mine come running to meet me at the gate every time they see me coming! They follow behind me so closely I've had a couple run into the backs of my legs. They LOVE me... okay, they love the treats...

I wont be getting a rooster (hopefullY) and dont know whats the "stink eye", but it doesnt sound good.....

OMG, you are going to crack up when you see your chicks "play fight" and give each other the stink eye! They basically turn their head so that only one eye is facing the "target," stand very still, and proceed to STARE.
Food & treats are definitely instant friendship makers when it comes to chickens.

Mine come when called (and I have a whistle call that they respond to too) and the neighbors are always amazed.

We trained ours by shaking a cup full of scratch and calling "Giiii-irlls!" Now when we call "Giirls!" they come running.

"Heeere, chick chick chick" works for us as well. But you could train them to come to "Piineapple!" and they'd still come running.

At first when we only had 6 hens, we thought it was cute how they could be at the back of the property and when they would see us they came running. Well, now that there are 25 or so running around and they run up to any human that comes in the driveway looking for treats it can be a little annoying. It's like trying to walk through a school of fish. They are very entertaining and so sweet. Actually, having them "trained" to come when called works very well in an emergency. A neighbor's dog got loose and due to their training we were able to round everyone up quickly and get them in their pen safely.

When they crowd me I love it. They cluck and talk to me and are just great pets!
