One of my four pullet's tail feathers have curved down in the last couple of days. She appears to have a sort of a lump on her behind just above her vent. I noticed a very minor trembling movement, and I also noticed her neck feathers flare but return to normal quickly.. She's eating and drinking normally. I noticed my four girls have been eating the pine shavings. I don't know if she's sick or not. Could she be constipated? Someone help

Do a search for "egg bound". Compare her symptoms with what you find there. This will kill her quickly if it is but if you act fast enough, you could save her.

Would 'egg bound' happen to a pullet who is only twelve weeks old and not laying yet?

Nope. I didn't know the age. However, I have never heard of a constipated chicken. Does she have poopy butt at all? Is there a strong odor? I'm sorry I don't know what it is but with more symptoms, it might help narrow it down.

Thank you for your help. I'm new to raising backyard chickens and I may be overly concerned. I haven't noticed a strong odor. I will check her for poopy butt in the morning. But meanwhile, I'll research that as well. Thanks again!

My golden sex link 12 week pullet still has her tail feathers drawn and still seems to have a lump under her feathers where her tail is drawn under. She is 'resting' in the corner a lot. However, she continues to eat and drink. We inspected her vent area today and it seems normal. I gave her some yogurt with probiotics today. I'm calling out for help again. Should I isolate her from my other three?
