Do chickens go into labor?

Here is another outrageous x ray of a kiwi and her egg. With most species of this bird, the female leaves the incubation to the male. It will take him 63-92 days before the chick will hatch

Those chickens only lay eggs in their nest, I think. Once I accidentally shut the door to the nest after my first chicken laid, the second one waited till the evening to go lay in the nest! They won't lay anywhere else....
