do chickens go off to die privately if they know they are sick?

I know cats and some other animals do and now my red star that has been very ill and has a large wound on her abdomen that I do not think will heal keeps taking herself off to very private spots in the yard that I've never seen her in before. I keep moving her back to the coop or the special spot i set up for her but she keeps disappearing off to some weird location. Its like she just wants to be alone.
I am taking her to the vet tomorrow to have her put to sleep because I know she is suffering and since she's truly a pet I cant bring myself to cull her.

I would have to say no, BUT she may be off by herself because chickens tend to pick on anything that is WEAK/SICK so she is probably trying to escape the torment from the other chickens.

I've only had chickens for 2 years. But I let my guys free range during the day so they have a higher mortality rate. Mine have always come back to the coop/run to die, IF they could.

I've been trying to keep her seperated because I've seen the other girls go after her, as soon as she has a chance she leaves my infirmary and goes off somewhere private in the yard. Its strange.

I don't have any chickens, but I think animals want to be alone if they are sick.My dog is sick.We do not know what's wrong.

But she seems to be laying down a lot in the stangest places.Places where they're not lots of PEOPLE.
