My little 5 bird flock consists of 2 guineas 5 weeks old, one Amerecuana 6 wks old and 2 barred rocks 2 wks old. I've recently began letting them out of the brooder to run around our garage a few times a day (very chick proof) and they LOVE it. But I'm noticing the guineas especially love to run up and kinda play tag with me, they run and flutter around my feet and run off mischievously. My eldest chicken does the same thing, and all of them seem to like when I kind of play chase them. It's really adorable, but I'm wondering if chickens/guineas are known to "play" with their humans? And if so what kind of things do they do? The guineas are the most playful of all,, I've never seen birds who act so much like puppy dogs!

I had one hen that would follow me and give me one peck on the right calf and then turn around like I didn't do nuthin. She did this for over two years till a cat got her.

lol, aww. I spent hours in the yard with mine today and I'm telling you, guineas don't get enough credit. My two guineas are just like puppy dogs, they run after me and try to beat each other to my side, the chickens are very sweet and all but not nearly as dog like as the guineas are. I dig up any hills and worms for the birds to pig out on and te guineas have already in just a day figured out how to work like a team with me, they've figured out what noise I use to signal I've found the larvae, they know how to work around the shovel as I dig for another any nest, it takes them no time to learn what I'm trying to communicate. The chickens are more into doing their own thing and more hard headed. My chickens are not crazy about being handled and stuff but the guineas enjoy it and my guinea Little Foot, the tamest of all 5, loves having her forehead rubbed. My cockerel barred rock, just a little guy still, is the only one of my 3 chickens who shows signs of enjoying being handled and likes to nuzzle and peck my hair. But overall they're all incredibly silly and playful, I just thought it was worth mentioning how awesome the Guineas are because I don't see that discussed much. They're super smart!
