do chickens lay whilst sitting??

i was just wondering if hens lay eggs, whilst hatching. my 10 year old neice was just wondering. thanks again....

Nope - to do so would result in a staggered hatch where added eggs would be deserted. Other hens will readily add eggs to a setting hen's clutch.
