I have a "lawn" which might be more accurately described as a dandelion crop. All spring / summer / fall I've got dandelions. Will the chickens eat them if I pen them or free range them on the lawn?

Thanks

GG

My chickens LOVE dandelions, everything but the flower stem. They love the leaves and the flowers. Its good for them too.

Mine go crazy for the leaves.
I leave the roots in the ground, so I can get more dandelions.
I have some so large they look like collards!

yes. I read in backyard poultry that a natural wormer is dandelion leaves and garlic leaves chopped in a sliced in half pumpkin with seeds. All parts of the recipe in combination kill the worms due to the natural chemical components. I never got a before and after fecal egg count to verify the validity of the claim but....they loved it!

Mine wont eat Dendelions. I am surprised, compared to replies here. To comment on the dewormer reply here, I discovered the natural dewormer from theholistichorse.com and add it to all their food and treats now. Email me for info or check out the link.

If you pen them up in a certain area rather than letting them forage for what they'd prefer across the whole yard then yes they will eat the dandelions.... and the grass... and everything else until you have completely bare patches if you don't move them fast enough.
