I built a new duck coop for my pair of indian runners and since they seem to like wet so i built it at the back of our lot where the ground is damp... well i added 2 chickens about a month ago and am now wondering if its too wet for them....? its not all mud but the grass is spongy and a bit mossy there it is damp most of the time except in mid summer.

Can the dampness cause them to get sick or get diseases easier? they do spend a fair amount of time either on top of their 'house' or in it... The 'house' is off the ground as well...

My chickens love the mud. I ran a puddle for them this summer when it was 100 degrees plus, and they all loved going and wading around in it and scratching around in the mud when it dried. They also like to go scratch around in the spot where out a/c run off puddles up.

My Roo LOVES the mud. I can't keep those small jar water-ers around him because he pecks at them and knocks them over so he can play in the mud.

Mine do. I imagine there are some tasty bugs there. I wouldn't keep them in mud but when they're free ranging they often like to pick through it.
