Do chickens need fun?

They need mental stimulation, or else they get bored and start fighting with each other or other quirks like pulling their feathers out...

Having fun is hard to define even for people, some people have fun sitting in a chair, while others would call that boring and no fun... Same with other animals, there is no black and white definition of 'fun'...

Instead chickens should be provided with a level of mental stimulation that allows them to keep 'busy' and do something... Something as simple as spreading some bird seed out in the grass for them to scratch for works, as will hanging a head of lettuce on a rope and letting them peck at it... Many also like human interactions, like walking with them or giving them any type of attention...

Mine swing on the floppy fence that is supposed to deter them, mock me, and cackle "ah-ha-ha-ha" as they boing off the other side to freedom...

They LOOK like they're having fun to me :D

Seriously though...agreed, they need mental stimulation or they get bored... Heads of cabbage, digging spots, hidey holes, things to scratch...that's what "scratch" feed is actually for lol, a cure to ease boredom and something different to do...

BTW, I find sitting in a chair IMMENSELY fun lol ;)

I believe a lot of that comes with age, I too find just sitting in a chair fun at times, but my children are likely to consider it torture or punishment almost all the time...

Lol mine too.. I'll give them a few more years, then the choice between "sit in a chair", or " work", and the chair will sound way more fun ;)
