⠀ Do chickens need grass in coop?

We had to build our chicken coop in a not so grassy area.Everywhere else is grassy,but it is hills.I feel like they need it so they can eat bugs.Or at least attract them.It also might look prettier.

This is not necessary. You will find that over a relatively short period of time, the grass in the coop will be destroyed by the chicken as she scratches at the ground. Also, poultry manure tends to destroy plant material very quickly due to the high nitrogen content in it. Bugs will still wander into the coop without the grass.
