Do chickens sunbath?

Some of my hens lay on their side all streched out with the upside wing raised up ad ruffled feathers and snooze. The first time I saw this I thought they had died, but when I touched them they jumped up like that had been shot or something. So was just wondering if anyone else has hens that sunbath? Oh yea and it is 96 degrees here today and five are bathing!!

Yes they love it. Esp. if it is a bit cool. They are funny here combining their dust bath and sunning themselves. LOL. Gloria Jean

Oh yes! That is most definitely typical chicken behavior! Mine love to sunbathe too!

Well they kinda scare the life out of me when they have a full body lay down and their eyes are closed!!!

Yes!! Just like that only they lay all the way down on their side!! I have 24 and a Roo and 4 or 5 do this each day!!! I have started rattling the gate to annouce that I am there and they better get up or I will be very upset if one doesn't!!!!
