I am learning so much about birds but I know the lessons will be new every day!!!! My chickens are about 9 weeks old, I also have included 2 peahens with my chicks from the start. One of my peas thinks she is a chicken! If she is separated from the chickens in any way she cries constantly until she is back with her flock! Is this possible?

Birds are such amazing creatures. They can form the deepest heart felt relationships. I had two female ducks. One was a very old Rouen, "Collette", and later we added a silly Cayuga, "Avalanche", that we rescued. They were inseparable. When Collette died at 14 years old I really worried about Avalanche, even though she has a coop full of chickens to hang out with. Last week I notice a few feathers growing on her wings that were the brown color and scalloped markings of a Rouen. Avalanche is black and white so this really is an odd thing.
