Do chicks imitate other birds?

I have a question - do chicks imitate other bird sounds they hear? My 4 weeks old birds are spending lots of time outside during the day now that it is toasty warm. They are making a new sound, and I realized today that it sounds like one of the birds in our trees. Just coincidence are are they imitating? What do you think?

My 5 week old one has also begun her first clucking attempts which is adorable!

No, they do not have the ability to imitate.


The changes are not actually "clucking". Record it an compare it to clucking by a hen with chicks.

Thanks - just a coincidence I guess. I should record them though just so when they do all get clucking we can listen for posterity!

It is funny I have heard birds outside and thought my baby's were in trouble but they do sound a lot alike but to your question no chicks are not Parrots

My chicks are indoors with Zebra finches &just started making finch noises.,at week 3.
