Do chicks need natural light?

Sorry if this has already been asked before...do baby chicks NEED natural light. It is very hard to provide it for them with our situation. Thanks!

I'm interested in hearing that reply also. For 3 weeks, mine had a combination of natural and artificial light. However, they outgrew their baby brooder and had to be moved to a larger area in the basement. We have some windows but we didn't feel it provided enough light for the chicks so we attached a "grow-light" that we used for starter plants and put it on a timer. I'm hoping this will work for them for about 2 more weeks. I think then they can go outside.
