Heat bulb has gone out need alternative.

It's past 10pm here in wyoming and my heat lamp bulb has just burnt out on my 2-3 week old chicks. I have never had a heat lamp bulb burn out on me, let alone in only 2-3 weeks of getting it brand new. I have heard of ppl using flood light bulbs in a pinch but all I have it's a 75w one until hopefully tomorrow when I can go to the store, I already have it rigged up and light has been lowered. But I am worried I'm not in the UK anymore I have none of my proper setup over here and it's windy and I am freaking out! I will say I do keep my section of the house "basement" around 85-95f anyway but will that help at all for the chicks?

If it's 85-95 where the chicks are without the light they will be fine.

Also, why are you keeping the basement 85-95 degrees?? That's wild.

I like to be warm pretty simple that and I made it warmer just for the chicks as again I live in a basement in wyoming and it's cold and very windy right now

OK well....if the chicks are 2-3 weeks old and it's 85-95 degrees where they are you don't need a heat lamp for them.

Given the age of the chicks, I don't think they need any heat source at those temperatures. And within the next week or so, I would start turning the temperature down until it reaches the level you find comfortable. Many people keep their houses about 70F, and chicks can usually be comfortable at that temperature with no extra heat by the time they are 4-5 weeks old (minor variations if they grow their feathers faster or slower than normal.)

If you intend to move the chicks outdoors at some point, it works better if you transition them gradually, so taking away the heat lamp and then lowering the room heat are good steps in that direction.
