Do chicks sleep in the egg?

I'm wondering if the embryo-chicks sleep in the eggs as some don't move when I candle in spite of my turning the egg several times. Others seem to move whenever I candle. Could the still chicks be dead? I seem to see some veins in a couple of the still eggs.

They do have sleep and yes, almost dormant periods before they hatch, do NOT toss any til at least 25 days.
