do cochins use their wings to fly as much as others?

Mine will not fly/jump to the 2 ft. wall to go up in the dirt and trees with the others. I wonder if she will ever do this, if it isn't in their nature?

They can if they want to. Generally they are very laid back. I have a couple girls that jump up onto a 4ft. high box just to roost every day then I have others who wont even jump 1 ft to get out of the coop.

Mine HATES climbing up and down the ladder to lay eggs. She only goes into the coop at night because the male will chase her on the ground until she goes on. But she won't roost...at all...EVER.

But if they do fly, they will use their wings like other birds, of similar size and design.
