Do delawares have sex linked barring?

Just curious if delawares also have sex linked barring like the barred rock. I know that delawares can be used to make red sex links but am curious if they can also be used to make black sex links. Thanks in advance! (My husband is grateful I have this community so I don't have to test it out myself lol)

Black Sex Links are derived from breeding a male Rhode Island Red with a Barred Rock Hen.

As far as I know there is only one barring gene which is sex-linked. If you breed a none barred rooster to a barred hen you will get sex-linked chicks, the male chicks will be barred

Yes a Delaware has the same sex linked barring as a barred rock.

Barring can be bred out after a cross like that so mostly I'm just not sure if the black in the hackle and tail are actually caused by the same barring gene or not. I'll play with the calculator to figure it out

Barring is the white stripes in the feathers, not the black ones. A barred rock without barring, for instance, would just be black.

I was more thinking about the black in the hackle and tail on Columbian birds, as I'm pretty sure that isn't black barring just black feathers (right?)

That is just the columbian pattern. When there’s white bars on those black feathers, that’s the barring.

I tried it out! Here is the result of my lav ameraucana over my delaware hen. It's down looks lighter than my barred rock sex links but I think I detect a head spot. Do you guys agree?

It's dry, but definitely not fluffy! I marked its feet to be able to identify it and plopped it in with the other hatchlings to rub elbows and hopefully fluff up

I added a Delaware rooster to my flock of barred hens(Plan A) and made a DIY incubator in case the hens don't go broody (Plan B) If all else fails I'll go to Tractor Supply (Plan C)
