As the subject says do double yolks produce twins??

I know its dumb question but I have been getting a few recently and got to wondering?

thanks for you answers in advance
Ta!!

Well, they arent really twins. They are just two different egg yolks that happen to get encased in the same shell. (as opposed to dividing into two.) Also, they rarely hatch because one usually overpowers the other, and usually they both end up dying.

From what I've read here, it is very unlikely that both would hatch. And rare for one to hatch. But, I've just seen posts, never tried it.

Technically yes but noone has managed to hatch them.

i almost had twins but they died 2 hours later

There are some threads here on this, appears it COULD be done....
