Do Ducks Have Night Vision???

It would be interesting if someone did research on domestic vs. wild duck. I think wild ducks would have better eyesight because of predators and others of the such, but wild ducks also tend to stay near a lake or pond in case of danger, right?

Yes, I believe wild ducks usually try to sleep on water. I don't really know that much about wild ducks, though.

I wouldn't be surprised if night vision has been accidentally bred out of domestic ducks while breeding in physical characteristics and egg production. This is just a guess. Also, my ducks absolutely have amazing vision during the day. They are so aware and can see the tiniest speck so far away. It's incredibly impressive. Of course sometimes they alert me to an airplane or a falling leaf... But they are always right and if they alert me something is there! Sometimes it is an eagle and sometimes it is a butterfly.

Ya! My ducks also can see veryyyy well during the day, especially at spotting bugs. They also chase away squirrels and cats from the yard (to the gratefulness of the quail). Unfortunately, they weren't able to use the same effect with hawks (duh), there have been some close encounters. Also, it is approaching winter here, and we are running out of lettuce to feed them. Is there anything else that would give them nutrients other than mealworms and duck food???????

I wanted to see if my ducks had pretty good night vision, but when I searched it up, the results varied. Any answers?
Also, random question that I was wondering, are sweet potato leaves harmful to ducks and/or quail?

I think the ducks see better than chickens. I would avoid ANY nightshade leaf.

Veggies we eat. Sprouted seeds. PEAS lort its the holy grail to ducks and full of niacin

Ok, got it, will consider peas. I was gonna give a few sweet potato leaves to my quail & ducks cuz we had an excess of those. Just when the quail had like 1 bite, a thought came to my head that made my heart jump into my mouth: WHAT IF THESE WERE POISONOUS!?!?!?!!?!?!?! Then, I like ran to the computer and googled whether sweet potato leaves were poisonous to quail and ducks and then went to backyard chickens. Thankfully, they weren't part of the nightshade family so I was pretty relieved, but I'm probably not gonna give them sweet potato leaves again lol

I'm not sure about how well my ducks can see at night, but mine are awake much of the night. We have a dog run that is in front of our bedroom window. After a couple ducks went missing, I moved the ducks into the dog run for nights. We hear them quaking and moving all around the 1,000 square ft at any time of night.
