Hi new to ducks so trying to learn as much as I can, this is a great site and everyone so helpful, my ducklings are 4 weeks old now and so cute.

Do ducks lay eggs all year round?

At what age do they start to lay?

When do they get broody and sit on eggs to hatch is this all year round also or certain times?

Thank you in advance.

I believe I have Moscovies and if I keep them under light they will continue to lay is that what you mean?

I don't know much about muscovies. But I can tell you that light doesn't seem to make a huge difference for my runners. I found temperature made more of a difference, actually. If I keep them at 40F or above in the winter, egg laying goes up about 100%, from 3 a day to 5 or 6 a day, with roughly the same amount of light.

My approach is to feed them well, keep them healthy, and be grateful for the eggs we get.

Thanks Amiga that is a nice approach to have. Mine seem very happy and they do eat well and I am not too worried about temps in winter as I am in Spain and we dont get too cold winters here
