Do ducks need windows

2 windows, up high. Not for the ducks to look out. The windows are so the coop won't be dark and they are located directly across from each other for cross ventilation in the summer.

Take into consideration that egg laying is dependent upon the number of hours of daylight. I want my coop to get light as soon as the sun comes up. not 3 hours later when I open the door.

I use that theory for my chicken coops. My pekin coop doesn't have windows. The eggs for the day are always laid before I open the door in the morning. I'm not sure the hours of light rule apply's to ducks. Or at least to mine. Mine stopped laying late last November, and restarted January 1st.
