I've noticed my pekin drake mate with both hens (one pekin, one mallard) or at least what appears to be mating

, but it's only done in the pool. I thought one of our mallard drakes won over the mallard hen, but she was clearly "presenting" herself to the pekin today. (Little hussy, lol!) Is this only done in water? If they're mating does that mean they'll be laying soon?

my drakes do alot better in water but do it on land also.
mine started mating about a mth or so before they started laying. 1 of my ladies is mating with my drake all the time and still hasnt layed and she is 6 1/2mths old:/

Oh, I'm cracking up right now! Well, mine definitely seem to prefer the water! I wasn't expecting to get eggs until next year so I'm excited about the possibility of getting them soon.
