Im wondering if female ducks (sorry don't know what they're called im new to ducks lol) if they will lay without a male duck? like chickens do, they lay without a rooster.

FYI female are called ducks and males and called drakes. Yes they lay eggs without having a drake around. They just won't be fertile.

how old do they have to be to lay eggs?

Female ducks are hens and boys are drakes...They will lay without a male and start laying 16 to 20 weeks...They is how old mine use!
