I read somewhere, a long time ago, that whether a peahen is well fed vs. less food intake may determine the sex of the peachicks hatched. I don't know if that is true or not but I now cannot find anything on the internet to support that "theory." Does anyone out there have any information in this regard? Is that a fact or just an old wives tale?

Bird genetics works a bit differently. Male peacocks are ZZ and female are ZW so it is the female that determines sex. Hardly matters, the point is genetics determines sex not diet.

But thinking about it diet could be a factor influencing genetics; like temperature influencing the sex of some reptiles.
