Do female Mallards feather faster than males?

Our Mallard (Niblet) is 30 days old and has feathered in completely on the belly has tail feather and has feathers in front of the wings already. We thought it was male, but now not sure.
I know female chickens feather faster than males and was wondering if ducks are the same.

In my particular brood the males seemed to feather out faster

And with mine the females are fully featherd and the drake is slackin' behind.
