Do geese/goslings need grass?

I have goslings and they eat a lot of grass. The grass is dying because of them. I was told that in the winter people feed geese wheat and pellets. But can goslings eat just flock raiser? Is there anything else that I can feed my goslings besides fresh grass?

Grass is part of the normal diet for a goose. They will also eat alfalfa, seeds, grain, corn, roots, and berries. I fed mine water fowl pellets in winter when the snow covered their normal food. However, if given a choice, they will eat grass. The only way you can prevent them from eating grass is to keep them penned up where they can not get to the grass.
