My geese (and ducks) get layer pellets as their main nutrition, with it being provided in a rubber feed tub during the day so they can eat as much as they want.
At night I don't keep feed in their overnight stall because I don't want to encourage rats, so the waterfowl get the armload of hay to keep them busy and as a supplement until they go out in the morning. They get hay year round but I give them fresh greens/weeds as it becomes available, along with kitchen vegetable (and fruit) scraps.
