my GF's uncle has a pair of toulouse geese(nice looking birds) and I was hoping to snag a couple of hatching eggs from him, but he told me that the female won't get in the water so the male can breed her... is this true... can geese only breed if they are swimming?... it sounds a bit off to me, but he is convinced... then again, this is the same man that still is convinced that the pekin drakes someone ripped him off on were straight run muscovies(because that is what the seller claimed they were, and they didn't quack... ), so I am looking for a second opinion...

No they don't need to be in water and be swimming to breed. It certainly helps with fertility but it's not needed. My geese don't have water but for drinking. Nothing big enough for them to swim in.

that was what I figured... I ought to bet him on whether the eggs would hatch
