Do they make a sound when they are laying an egg? Like a chicken makes a noise and you know when they are laying. I'm curious because it's going to get warmer here (someday) and they are a year old now.

Do a search on youtube

Guineas make noise even when they sleep LOL, they are the loudest most noisey things on the face of the planet, if someone tells you different their fibbing for sure. I can't stand them for longer than 5 minutes.

They really don't make a noise when they're laying like a chicken. Mostly the others stand around her and make noise like a guinea (much louder than a chicken)

Guineas do not sing a song like the chicken dance! Sometimes her male will be keeping lookout and be chattering. Thats how I sometimes find a nest. Mine mostly lay mid day.

That's exactly what went thru my head when I read the topic of the post

My Hens make a long drawn out cackling noise (about 10 syllables long? lol) when they lay their eggs. I use the sound to my advantage, to locate free ranging Hens' nests. When I hear it, it usually lasts long enough for me to figure out the general direction it's coming from so I can go search that area.

Thanks for your replies, I do know they make noise I have five of them and they are a year old and loud. I was just wondering if they made a noise so one would know they were laying. And Kat, if I wanted to go to You Tube I would have gone there instead of here. I guess you'd rather have members go to You Tube than ask questions here. If you don't want to answer them don't.

They don't make an egg song or anything like that. However.....if you happen to walk by when one is on the nest, the others will coo and trill softly to tell her to stay hidden! It's quite cute, and it's helped me find the nest more then once.
