Do guineas need to be vaccinated for Mareks disease or any other

I set a doz guineas. When they hatch should I vaccinate them all for mareks disease (I vaccinate all my chicks) or are they not suseptible to Mareks?
What other diseases are guineas more prone to if any?

Does anybody know? I just got my marek's vaccine today and will be doing my whole flock this weekend. I have some keets in the brooder still. Should I vaccinate them also?

I'll be vaccinating in the next day or two, I have two little guineas, If nobody answers saying not to vaccinate them, I'm going to vaccinate mine. Sure wish someone that knows would answer this question???

Honestly, I don't think guineas are very disease-prone. They aren't truly domesticated like chickens and are quite resistant. Someone once said you couldn't kill a guinea with a 22, LOL (though they are often hawk-bait). Never heard of anyone vaccinating guineas; doesn't mean they don't but I used to belong to a guinea forum and can't recall any mention of it.

According to my most recent issue of Backyard Poultry Guineas do not get Mareks disease. It was an article on vaccinating at home. they used a photo of a guinea because the author had no chicks at the time and he explained this as why he used a keet for demonstration purposes. Hope this helps....

Guinea Hens are VERY resistant to disease. Usually mortality comes from a predator attack.

If you have the vaccine, i would just go ahead and do the keets. Guinea Hens DO get marecks, but the resulting symptoms are much less than in chickens.

I would add that Guinea Hens can become carriers for the disease.

Univ of Fla Extension Svc says the following:

"Species affected: Chickens between 12 to 25 weeks of age are most commonly clinically affected. Occasionally pheasants, quail, game fowl and turkeys can be infected."
