i know that my chickens will not but i was curious if guinees will eat them. i am starting a garden this year that was overrun with them last year.

I've offered my guineas stink bugs a lot of times and never seen them eat one. BUT. I have a lot of stink bugs in the barn and none in the guinea coop. So make your own conclusions.

squash bugs are a stink bug. we read they will eat them. I sure hope they will cause that is the one main reason we got them. so we can have squash and pumpkins.

Oh, fowlin, I'm right there with you. I can't tell you how many hours I have spent picking off squash bugs, squishing them between my fingers (gag--the smell!), snipping them in half with scissors (when I just couldn't cope with squishing any more), and my most recent technique, vaccuuming them off with a Dust Buster. I have a hand mirror hanging on a stump by my garden so I can inspect the underside of leaves and remove all the eggs every day. I've captured and relocated countless toads into toad houses in the garden. I have given my all to the squash bug war, and still I have lost. Guineas are my last ditch effort to get them under control. If it doesn't work, I will be unspeakably disappointed!

The squash bug problem was the primary reason I got guinea keets last year. The squash is now planted, the guineas are 7 months old and in mated pairs, happily foraging thoughout the gardens. Now comes the test - what will the outcome be?
I'll let you know.....

That smell... If the guineas give us squash without squashing an endless army of stinky bugs and tearing holes in leaves trying to get that last egg in the vein margin and end this loosing battle I will build them a castle, that they can choose not to live in if they so desire.
