Do hawks go for adult hens?

Yes I had a red-tailed hawk kill my guinea hen a couple years back.

How do you bring in more crows? I have hawks that spotted my chicks last night w a clear runway to swoop down and get them even with plenty of cover. My 9 wk olds were clueless to the hawk talk and the crows sending out their warning calls. It was like herding cats trying to shoo them back into their run. I try to monitor free range time a few hours before bedtime thinking that would help keep them safe from hawks. Any other suggestions?

I've seen a hawk swoop and grab a chihuahua while standing next to it in a neighborhood with acre lots. They are about the same wt as an avg hen. It was devastating for everyone!
