Recently adopted 7 young adult hens. 2 have started to crow. One looks like a rooster but the other does not. Do hens ever crow? Or am I stuck with 2 more roos?

Oh dear oh dear...

I used to have a hen who would occasionally crow; not regularly, though. However I know someone else whose hen crows every time she lays an egg--not the usual hen's egg announcement, but an honest to goodness crow.

Yes, I have one. We do not have a rooster and periodically she will go through a spell that she will crow. It is only in the morning and only once or twice each day. You have to be outside to hear it because it is not as loud as a rooster.

She is the head hen and bosses the others around. She is not aggressive with us but she is to the others.

Mostly I think she crows because she wants us to let her out of her coop.

It is not uncommon. Its called, not surprisingly "hen crowing."
It is attribtued to one female in a larger number who becomes "alpha," or dominant within the folck.
In essence, she takes on the position of the cock, often including crowing - of sorts.
It doesnt really sound like "cock-a-doodle doo" crowing, but it can be raucous. I had one that would wake the dead with it.
