Do hens get lonely after rooster is gone?

Thank you everyone! A couple have gotten out of the fence but after that, one hen alerted us to all the spots they could get out. She was so proud of herself, insisting my hubby open the gate so she could get back in. They've been pretty mellow now. They also seem to be laying more eggs than before which surprised me!
