Do hens lay when they are molting?

I was curious. I have a bunch of hens 28+ and I am only getting 6 eggs a day! They may be hiding them, but that many? I see some have feathers coming in on their wings and backs. (moult?)
Help-this is their first moult (?) They were a year May 16th.

They will not lay if they are molting.

Some don`t and some do, but usually not very well. To tell if a hen is laying, feel the bones inder the vent. Three fingertips between the bones, she`s laying, 2 she`s probably not, and 1 fingertip between the bones and she`s deffinately not laying........Pop
