I have tried to find the answer to this to no avail. Please pardon my ignorance, I'm just curious. Ida has been making soft little clucking noises today and it seems the eggs have been moving a bit.

You know what? I'm sitting here right now listening to one of my broodies chatting away to her hatching babies. She's been talking to them since this morning and the first one hatched this afternoon. I stopped by her box to listen and I could hear the chick answering. When I lifted her to have a look all I saw was eggs. No chick that we could see yet, but it was talking!
Hope your hen gives you a fluffy butt real soon!

Then you must post a pic of them first. I want to choose my namesake.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Hope all goes well!

I think it encourages chicks to help if the he talks to them. I know i go talk to my hatching chicks. let them know there is something on the outside of that egg shell.

If I tap on the incubator after they've pipped, they start talking back. My broodies are constantly clucking to their little ones. Broodies make all kinds of sounds. I have always found my broodies started clucking a few days before going broody. :)
