There was a breeder I got a splash silkie pair and a buff hen off of a few years back. The splash both had single combs. The buff is either BQ or SQ i dont know. He said he could get me about any breed I can think of. Should I buy from them again at all or not silkies? Or get silkie too?

Did you know what you were buying when you bought from them or did they misrepresent what they had. If they were honest with you and birds were healthy then I would say go ahead if they have what you want, but if not why would you want the same headache.

But they were not good quality silkies, they were mixed breed because silkies have walnut combs. So, why would you want to buy from someone who doesn't tell you the truth?

I just wanted to say that single combs have NOTHING to do with bird being a mixed breed. Single combs often pop up in flocks of silkies, wyandottes, etc. Single combs in silkies are a DQ for showing but not for pets or egglayers.

As to whether you should buy again from them or not, it depends on if the seller was honest on the quality of the birds you were purchasing. If you told the breeder you were planning on showing them or breeding to the standard, the breeder did not give what you paid for. On the other hand, if you paid for pet quality and recieved it (the single comb silkies) I'd go with purchasing from the breeder again

I stand corrected.
